The oven door on our Viking had settled far enough out of true that you could feel heat spilling past the top edge, and anything roasted longer than an hour came out cooked on one side. Tired hinge springs, apparently, not the seal I had been blaming. He replaced them, reset the door, then had me crouch down and sight along the gap myself before and after. Our bungalow off Olde Town is not exactly square either, so I appreciated being shown rather than told.
Frost and ice buildup
Sheets of frost on the back wall or coil almost always point to the defrost system — a burned-out heater, an open thermistor, or a control board that never calls for a defrost cycle. We pinpoint which, so the ice stops coming back a week later.
